Hi Ric,

I found a brand new set of Madfiber V2 but without hardware (means no free body hub, no axle, no cup …) only bearings are mounted. How can I found this parts ?

Regards,

Eric

It’s 2016 and I got here a little late but maybe just in time to let you know that there is always hope and we never loose what we learn. We NEVER start at zero.

Another opportunities maybe hidden from plain view but they exist and are there. Me, for example, got here looking for wheels for a special project involving an ISO-406 folding road bicycle mod.

I’ll follow your next project.

Sorry to hear that story, very similar to the demise of BikeE. We accepted an investment from an evil man who was certain that he was the smartest guy in the room. BikeE delivered 30,000 bicycles to happy customers, 700 dealers in 14 countries, 135 employees over our 9 1/2 run and 70 some Mom and Pop investors. sad stories. He went on to spend about $8m creating the Bigha (Big Ha Ha) which sold maybe 80 bicycles and along the way abused every one of his employees. He reminds me of a guy named Drumph.

Reading this thread I’m reminded of that saying “Where there’s a will there’s a way” Ric I don’t know you personally but if there’s still a will then there must still be a way to get these back to market? I understand that liquidators had taken over stock and assets etc but what happened to the actual wheel moulds, are they destroyed or gathering dust somewhere? Just sitting there waiting!
Just out of interest here’s my own build… where there’s a will there’s always a way????

Hello Ric,
Very sorry to hear about this ending. I recall the early days at FSA when I first walked in with the Drink System prototype. Your generosity with time and information was especially appreciated. Watching something you have created transit from birth to death is always disheartening, although it does create the opportunity for the next spin of the wheel. I may try to contact you the next time I am in Seattle.
Take care. Phil.

This is really a sad ending for a product and a company that exemplified cutting edge design and engineering, made in USA manufacturing, and state of the art performance.

Hey Ric,
I have a set of Madfiber’s and need brake pads, can you direct me where I could find some, I know they are specific to your wheels.

I am saddened by the demise of Madfiber , they are exceptional wheels and I am your biggest fan !!!

Mr Hjertberg,

I live in Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) and have always been a fan of Mad Fiber wheels. Bought a set last month and unfortunately broke the front wheel in a ride (my fault). Even knowing MF is out of business, I’ll by another set. I am not rich, far from this. But I love well built things. Thanks for your work and hope you’re back on track soon with something special.

I just bought my Mad Fiber Clinchers today. I have no idea what’s going to happen in terms of the warranty – What I do know is that I just bought the toughest, lightest set of clinchers ever made
We met at Interbike 2012, that’s when I became a Ric Hjertberg groupie. I was really disappointed not to see you there this year. I’m a big guy that’s hard on wheels. I’ve dreamed about owning a pair of Mad Fibers ever since Lennard Zinn wrote about them in Velo. Your latest strength test video was jaw dropping.
I was really depressed through the end of October. I thought I would never own a pair of Mad Fibers. Then it hit me this morning about 4AM – Duh, go buy some NOW!!! BEFORE THEY ARE GONE FOREVER. They were not in the budget. I don’t know how I’m going to explain them to my wife but they will be here in 2 days. Hope to have a chance to re-introduce myself to you sometime. If the Mad Fibers are as good as you say they are, I may put them to the supreme test this coming June. I’ve never finished the Climb to Kaiser in under 11 hours. These wheels may give me the edge I need.

Are these not the same owners that killed off Serotta Bicycles (or at least Ben Serotta)?. Shame on them for destroying two made in the U.S.A companies.

It is a shame that unique, forward-thinking engineering gifts are lost in the greed of corporate shell games. Thanks to you and your colleauges for providing an innovative product.

I am very sorry to hear about this! Can you please let me know if Mad Fiber will still honor any warranty issues with the wheels?
