Digital Spoke Ruler

$218.00

Here is a very accurate way to measure spoke length—a digital linear scale with 2 year lithium battery (2032), mounted to a half-inch mahogany base, with fittings to make fast accurate spoke measurements. The display turns on when moved and shuts down after 30 idle seconds. It can be recalibrated but retains accuracy for years.

A digital spoke ruler takes inaccuracy out of length measurement. Why use a digital ruler over a standard ruler? The same reasons to use digital calipers:

  • When measurements matter, digital devices are more accurate.
  • Analog measurement requires good light and good vision.
  • View angle with an analog ruler can induce parallax distortion.
  • In repetitive setups, digital measurement is faster and easier.
  • High quality digital linear readouts are ever more affordable.
  • Battery life is years, not weeks.
  • A professional should measure better than their customer.

Our design focuses on simplicity, longevity, economy, and beauty. Each unit is built, tested, and serial numbered in our workshop. Digital, yes. Old school also!

Notice that the mahogany base has a half-inch hole on its left. The hole is off center so the tool hangs perfectly vertical.

You will enjoy seeing exact lengths, even though off-length spokes are useable. Those who cut and thread spokes like confirming their output. A finished wheel is the consequence of ERD measurement, tension, stress relieving, and spoke length. The more precise the measurement, the greater control over the process.

Builders say they stop using analog rulers altogether because they become spoiled by precision. It's part of the path to mastery!
